Chicago, IL – 6/27/24 – HardStop Records is thrilled to announce the signing of 6kitty, the female-fronted trio from Chicago known for their blend of 90s alt-rock and dreamy pop. 6kitty will begin recording a new album in July 2024 to bring a fresh wave of unapologetic energy to the indie rock scene.
The longtime friends formed as a band in 2018 and share a commitment to creativity and a love of music ranging from Courtney Barnett to the Beths to hometown heroes Local H. The band features Donna on guitar and lead vocals, Stephanie on bass and vocals, and hard-hitting drummer Alex who rounds out the sound. 6kitty released their first album, Tux, on 11/11/22 which was included in Fast ‘n’ Bulbous’ Top 100 Albums of 2022 and ranked #6 in the Art Pop and Dream Pop category. They’ve been featured multiple times on WNUR’s Power Pop Shoppe and on Radio DePaul’s Rare Candy.
Their dynamic sound has been compared to Vanishing Kids, UV-TV, and the Pixies. They fuse blended vocal harmonies, melodic forward bass lines, and hard-hitting drums. Their live performances are known for their high energy and connection with the audience, making each show an unforgettable experience. Tracks like “My World” and “Taxi” have become fan favorites, showcasing the band’s unique ability to blend nostalgic influences with a modern edge.
