Chicago’s indie rock trio 6kitty proudly announces the release of their second album, Under Pins, now available on all major streaming platforms. This new release seamlessly fuses dream pop, shoegaze, and indie rock, creating a sound that’s uniquely 6kitty.
The album’s lead single, “June,” garnered attention for its captivating melodies and atmospheric depth. Last Day Deaf describes “June” as “a mesmerizing spell… blending the shimmering textures of shoegaze with a driving indie-rock undercurrent, unleashing tons of 90s indie charm.”
Under Pins represents a bold step forward for 6kitty following their 2022 debut, Tux, which earned critical acclaim and secured a spot in Fast ‘n’ Bulbous’ Top 100 Albums of the Year.
This new album delves deeper into the band’s creative psyche, weaving together pop sensibilities with darker, brooding elements for a sound that’s both expansive and intimate.
Formed in 2018, 6kitty comprises Donna Dee (guitar, lead vocals), Stephanie Harte (bass, vocals), and Alex Karan (drums). Their dynamic chemistry and versatile sound have solidified their presence in Chicago’s indie scene. The band joined forces with Chicago-based indie label HardStop Records in 2024 to make Under Pins.
